Goodness Inside:

The iPhone 4S Camera
Looking Back
The iPhone 4 was loved so much for its camera. It cannot be denied that the iPhone consumers were happy about their iPhone 4 because they were able to take good pictures using it. As a matter of fact, the iPhone 4 camera topped the survey made by Flickr, a photography site where the entire professional and non-professional photographer boasts their works shot by different cameras.
In this survey, it was said that the iPhone 4 camera was the most popular gadget used to take beautiful and stunning works of art.
And now that the iPhone 4S has the best camera a mobile device can get, it is safe to say that consumers, especially those who are photography buffs, will flock the Apple stores to get the handset.

The Camera of the iPhone 4S
Yes, one of the most awaited upgrades in the iPhone 4S is its camera. Apple added three more megapixels to the iPhone 4S’ camera but that’s not where “amazing” ends.
There are three big things about the iPhone 4S’ camera. And these are: Lens, Sensor Technology, and Processing Hardware.

The Lens
The iPhone 4 camera had four Apple-designed lenses that were built for extreme photography pleasure. Everybody thought it was awesome. But now, there’s something better.
Apple added a fifth specialized lens to the iPhone 4S’s camera to make the camera bursting with more color uniformity and color accuracy. Using the camera of the iPhone 4S, pictures appear to be more vibrant and full of crisp details.
The camera now has new optics and it still has the backside illuminator. The LED flash is also kept for situations where there is extreme low-light.
The iPhone 4S camera also has a new aperture that is wider, about f2.4. This lets more light in to the camera and gives greater separation between the subject and the background. This is the reason why the iPhone 4S camera was said to endanger the existence of the point-and-shoot cameras out on the market. This is because it can provide more depth of field than most compact cameras can provide.

The Sensor Technology
There is a golden rule in photography: Quality is better than quantity. That is what pixels are about. More pixel count will definitely provide larger images but this doesn’t mean that the photo will be of good quality.
Large photo files may have too much noise as “electrons bleed  between the tiny, cramped photo sites” where they can be posted.
But not with the iPhone 4S as it has the backside illumination. According to Wired.com, “this means that all the electronics on the chip are on the back, out of the way. Non-back-side illuminated chips have all the junk on top, where it impedes the light. Thus equipped, Apple claims increased light sensitivity of 73 percent.” This isn’t really bad, right?
Also said in the site was the explanation about another technical term mentioned on the product page which was “full well capacity.” “This is what it sounds like. Each pixel can only accept a certain amount of light before it fills up. When this happens, the light spills over into adjoining pixels. This is called ‘blooming,’ and is a bad thing. A higher capacity means a higher dynamic range. “

The Processor
The iPhone 4S uses the Apple-designed A5, a dual-core processor chip that can deliver seven times faster graphics processing power. It also has a dedicated image-processing hardware inside.
This system-on-a-chip is actually similar to the “processing engines” found in Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras Nikon’s EXPEED and Canon’s DIGIC.
With the help of the A5 chip, camera work is a lot faster. The camera can perform at the speeds of a compact cam and not from a mobile. It captures images faster and gets them ready for posting or post process editing.
There’s also something new: Face recognition. It can actually recognize up to 10 people. With iPhoto, tagging these people right on the phone is a breeze.
The iPhone 4S camera also boasts of image stabilization to video. No more shaky shots for you, oh iPhone 4S user.

Editing
Sorting and post process editing is now also available in the iPhone 4S.  This actually just makes the iPhone very independent when it comes to sorting out photos and organizing them in folders and publishing them online. No more photo editing software is needed. It’s all in the iPhone.Get the iPhone 4S and experience iPhoneography like never before.
